Here at Dragon Star Studio are mission is to provide quality Micaceous earthenware at affordable prices to the public, as well as to share information regarding the cultural, and historical significance of Hispanic pottery made in New Mexico from 1790 to todays current trends. Our Micaceous pottery is made with a traditional heart and a contemporary eyes. Micaceous clay bean pots, chili pots, and casserole dishes make excellent as well as beautiful cookware. The clay is self-tempering with tiny but abundant flakes of sparkling mica. These particles strengthen the clay body and insulate the walls for superior cooking performance. It can be used in an oven or on top of the stove (gas or electric), and are microwave safe. Food cooked in them takes on a rich flavor that is unlike anything cooked in a metal or cast iron pot. Because mica is an insulator, the handles and rims do not retain a great deal of heat. The pieces can be taken from the stove directly to the table for serving.
Light weight and durable. They are sought after as utilitarian vessels as well as decorative items. With care, these pots will last for generations to come, adding a warm glow and distinctive Southwestern ambiance to any décor.
